Fashion Medical Uniforms or Protective Medical Uniforms

It’s not only twice did I write about fashion medical uniforms and nursing scrubs, and many times I am tempted about telling health care professionals how great it is to look nice in stylish scrub tops, scrub pants, scrub jackets, and lab coats. I must admit though, that there is no wiser way of choosing medical uniforms by considering the protection they provide more. As we know, hospitals and clinics are jam-packed with harmful pathogens – deadly viruses and infectious microbes.

Common clothes worn at work simply provide cover and comfort, but such kinds of workwear uniforms would leave doctors and nurses too vulnerable to the dangers lurking around their workplaces. No matter where a health care worker is assigned, he or she is not immune from getting infected. Manufacturers of medical uniforms and nursing scrubs are all well aware of this fact. That is why they also continue innovating technology to be able to come up with products aimed to provide a certain level of protection.

Fabric Innovations

High technology has enabled fabric innovators and scientists to come up with clothing materials that provide reliable protection even from fatal biogas, acids, and keep the wearer safe while in highly dangerous environment. Some of the manufacturers of hospital uniforms, in part, incorporated these innovations in producing scrubs and lab coats that are ideal for everyday use.

Today, doctors, nurses, dentists, pharmacists, medical technologists, and every health care professional can benefit from the widely manufactured antimicrobial or antibacterial medical scrubs and lab coats. There are also those that are soil-resistant, can eliminate odor, and have anti-static technology, further improving protection for our dedicated health care workers.

What are the protective nursing scrubs and medical lab coats options you have? Landau scrubs and lab coats, Meta lab coats, Red Kap lab coats, Cherokee uniforms, Dickies scrubs, and Pulse Pro uniforms.

Antibacterial or Antimicrobial Medical Uniforms

Landau and Meta lab coats have this notable fabric innovation called antimicrobial coating. Landau, in particular, uses bioshield technology on some of their Landau scrubs and lab coats. Using highly durable microbiostatic barrier, Landau Anti-microbial provides garment protection from microbial contamination, and the wearer of course. Its bacteriaBarrier capability basically prevents growth of wide range of bacteria, mold, mildew, algae, fungi, yeast, and their associated odors. Protective efficiency of Landau antimicrobial is further tested by independent testing laboratories, and found the technology effective even against staphylococcus aureus, e coli, klebsiella pneumonia, and various salmonella strains.

The Landau antimicrobial technology, with the active ingredient Bioshield® 7200 or Organosilone, is an environment friendly mechanical process for preventing growth of pathogens. By forming positively charged polymer, Organosilone chemically bonds to the fabric and act like a bed of microscopic spikes that pierce the cell walls of microbes once they come in contact with the garment. Landau bioshield create no dislodgeable residue, odor, leaching, off-gassing, migration or diffusion of the molecule, assuring safety for both humans and animals.

Is Landau scrubs and lab coats that were incorporated with Bioshield safe for use? Yes, the technology used is EPA registered and USDA approved as safe even on contact with food surfaces.

How long can Landau antimicrobial provide protection? According to the company, bioshield technology is extremely durable and long lasting. Repeated washing does not necessarily undermine the effectiveness of organosilone. It is also colorfast.

Nursing Scrubs and Lab Coats with Soil Release

Many of the Dickies uniforms and Cherokee uniforms feature soil release system, a technology that enables the fabric to resist dirt in both solid and liquid form from easily clinging unto the garment. Significantly, health care professionals who are working in such an environment wherein harmful bacteria and viruses go with almost anything, gathering dirt on their uniforms is the least they need.

Besides keeping harmful pathogens at bay, soil release fabric capability of Dickies uniforms and Cherokee uniforms is significant in the profession when it comes to appearance of the workers. With the help of soil release system, they look hygienic despite being faced with almost every kind of dirt imaginable.

As with keeping the garments in tiptop shape, soil release helps by enabling ease of cleaning. With less dirt that needs washing off, detergents and bleach will not make the medical uniforms’ materials deteriorate fast. So Dickies uniforms and Cherokee uniforms having with soil release provide protection, facilitate with easy cleaning, keep professional look, and help you save from spending much on new medical uniforms replacements.

ESD Anti Static Lab Coats

Especially made for health care professionals, ESD antistatic garment or anti-stat lab coats prevent damage to electrical devices and or prevent explosions when working with flammable liquids and gases. This is done by safely grounding the wearer electronically using a special antistatic foot and wrist straps. This method basically controls or shields ESD or Electrostatic Sensitive Device, creating equipotential balance between electronic devices, static charge creating fabrics, and humans. Through that way, electrostatic protection is maintainable at a potential above 0 Voltage.

Why should health care personnel working in laboratories and with electronic devices wear lab coats with ESD anti-stat? As inferred in the preceding paragraph, such medical garment provides certain level of protection for the important hospital devices and the personnel working within the area. And considering the possible negative effects of static charges to electronic devices, ESD antistatic lab coats also help these valuable resources in utmost condition. In turn, tests for patients as well as results from researches are kept as accurate as possible. Red Kap lab coats are among the medical uniforms that primarily feature the said fabric technology.

Is personal safety your priority?

While fashion medical scrubs and lab coats are nice to look at and can be worn without failing the capability of being effective with the job, it is important for health care workers to keep their safety a priority as well. Antimicrobial, soil release, and ESD anti-stat fabric innovations in medical uniforms can provide significant aid.

Additionally, in some cases medical workers need uniforms that provide fire protection. Such as, EMT folks and in some military applications.
